While we in Orange County might not have an immediate affinity for the rain, as we have been spoiled by our "328 days of sunshine a year and an average daytime temperature of 73 degrees" rain does bring us many gifts to be joyous about. And among those many gifts, one of my favorites is the opportunity to watch our trails, canyons and valleys green up.
While the trails are closed until further notice (expect closures for around three days after the final rain ends, but check www.ocparks.com for more official information) you can find much joy in driving past or through our canyons, pulling over to the side of the road and looking at the beautiful scenery, or in taking the time at home to read up on our fauna and flora, as well as on the trails that you have yet to bike/hike.
Here is a link to the Data Map for the last 24 hours of rainfall in Orange County: http://www.ocwatersheds.com/envres/Rainfall/data/stormmap_24.asp
Finally, I apologize for my lack of posts these past few weeks - life has been exceptionally beautiful, yet busy, for me lately - however, I will attempt to show more discipline and post more useful, current information onto my blogs and websites ASAP! Of particular note will be more information about a literary project on the natural world of Orange County that is taking shape in Irvine, and a more detailed list of the blooming plants appearing on our trails.
Check in again soon! And thanks for your continued support.
