Have you ever been out hiking the trails of Orange County, and come across this wonderful creature?
Well, if you don't take the time to look at it real hard, you might first think that it is an enormous ant (its length gets up to 69 mm). But, in reality, it is a Jerusalem Cricket (or a Stenopelmatus fuscus if you prefer).
But Wait! Further research will show you that it's not even a cricket... or a "true bug" for that matter! (So what the heck is it?)...
Wikipedia has some general, quick information that you might want to check out. CLICK HERE FOR WIKIPEDIA'S ARTICLE ON JERUSALEM CRICKETS
There also is a neat audio on that Wikipedia page - make sure to click on the drumming "song" to hear it.
