So pleasantly surprised was I to discover a fantastic mushroom in my garden this morning at 8 AM...
So disappointed am I now, only 9 hours later, to find it GONE, with the stem all shriveled up!
What happened? Who is a mushroom expert??? Tell us, please!

I'm not an expert on fungi. In fact, if I learn a few more things about them I could work my way up to extreme fungi novice, but I just saw and photographed a very similar little toadstool at the Fullerton Arboretum a couple of weeks ago.
I know that isopods, commonly known as sowbugs or roly-polies, sometimes eat toadstools. I think snails and slugs do, too.
